Cotswold Way National Trail

Walk the full 102-mile Cotswold Way from Chipping Campden to Bath on an 8, 10 or 12-day self-guided walking holiday. We arrange your accommodation, move your luggage each day and provide the local support you need along the way. Or, if you’d rather walk with an expert local guide, discover the best sections of the trail on our guided Cotswold Way Highlights tour.

Stretching from Chipping Campden in the north to Bath in the south, the trail runs the full length of the Cotswolds and passes through some of the country’s best-preserved historic sites.

Although it’s one of the shorter UK National Walking Trails (and one of the newest – it was inaugurated in 2007), the Cotswold Way still features plenty of rolling hills and a few challenging climbs, making it an ideal Cotswolds walking holiday in England for international visitors.

The Cotswold Way is a National Trail, but it is not a one-size-fits-all walking holiday.

We’re a Cotswold-based team who know the route, the accommodation along the trail and the practical details that make every trip run smoothly – no matter the length. On every self-guided tour, we’ll meet you on day one and transfer you from Moreton-in-Marsh to the start in Chipping Campden.

We regularly create bespoke Cotswold Way trips and run guided or escorted tours for groups.

Cotswold Way FAQs

It depends on how much of a challenge you want. Our 8-day Cotswold Way holiday has longer walking days and suits confident walkers who are comfortable covering plenty of ground. The 10-day option gives you a little more time to enjoy the villages and landscapes along the way, 

Based on the itineraries our guests walk, the 12-day trip is the most popular. It takes a more relaxed approach with shorter daily distances.

Whichever you choose, you’ll walk the complete 102-mile Cotswold Way from Chipping Campden to Bath.

As local Cotswold Way experts, we regularly create bespoke trips on the National Trail for groups of all sizes. Choose your dates, walking pace and trip length, with rest days where you want them. Need support? We can also arrange a guide to escort your group along the entirety of the trail.

We take care of the logistics so you can concentrate on the walking. Your trip includes carefully selected accommodation, daily luggage transfers, detailed route information and local support throughout your holiday.

You walk independently at your own pace, with everything organised around you

Yes. We move your main luggage to your next accommodation each day, so you only need to carry a small daypack while you walk.

Your bags will be waiting for you when you arrive, leaving you free to enjoy the trail without carrying everything for 102 miles.

A self-guided holiday gives you the freedom to walk without a group or guide, while we take care of the planning behind the scenes.

We arrange your accommodation and luggage transfers and provide everything you need to follow the route.

Unlike some operators, we’ll meet you at Moreton-in-Marsh train station to transfer you to the start point in Chipping Campden.

Once on you’re way, you set off each morning at your own pace, stop when you want and make the day your own, with our local team there if you need us.

The Cotswold Way is a rewarding long-distance walk with plenty of rolling terrain and regular climbs. You do not need technical hiking experience, but you should be comfortable walking for several hours on consecutive days.

Your choice of itinerary makes a big difference. Choose 8 days for a bigger challenge, 10 days for a balanced pace, or 12 days if you prefer shorter walking days.

We recommend booking as early as you can, particularly if you want to travel between May and September. Accommodation along parts of the Cotswold Way is limited, and the best options can fill quickly during the main walking season.

Booking early also gives you the best choice of dates and your preferred 8, 10 or 12-day itinerary.

Caring for the Cotswold Way

We’re proud members of the Cotswold Way Association, the charity helping to protect and improve this much-loved National Trail.

Their work keeps the route enjoyable for everyone, funding practical improvements such as clearer waymarking, better gates, steps on steep sections and repairs to eroded paths.

They also support the volunteers who care for the trail and its surrounding landscape.
